The security-specification says that the public-certificate has to be X.509 standard. Doesn't X.509 rely on the private / public key method? Because I only get one.pem file, containing a private key, and a certificate, but no public key, using the following command: openssl req -new -x509 -days 365 -nodes -out./cert.pem -keyout./cert.pem. Sep 06, 2012 An X.509 certificate contains a private and a public key. As such it is suitable for password-less login via SSH. However, as always with certificates and keys and all that powerful stuff the handling of it all is very clumsy. Kingsley just explained how to setup SSH with X.509 certificates. I will try to add the missing pieces here.
